  • EW – Mark Ruffalo has joined the cast of Roundabout Theatre Company’s forthcoming winter production of Arthur Miller’s The Price, it was announced Thursday. He’ll be assuming the role originally set to be played by John Turturro, who is departing the production due to conflicts with his filming schedule.

    Ruffalo will portray Victor Franz, a man picking up the pieces of his childhood home and reconciling with his family three decades after the Great Depression cost him his dream of education, and his family their fortune. Tony Shalhoub, Jessica Hecht, and Danny DeVito costar as Victor’s brother, wife, and furniture dealer, respectively.

    Ruffalo is a Tony nominee for his sole Broadway credit, Lincoln Center’s 2006 revival of Odets’ Awake and Sing!, for which he earned a featured nomination as an orbital Bronx boarder during the Depression.

    The Price begins Broadway previews on Feb. 16, opens March 16, and closes May 7 at the American Airlines Theatre; Steppenwolf co-founder Terry Kinney directs.
