Mark has posted this morning on his Instagram a picture to announce he’s doing a new film, titled Anything, with Matt Bomer and John Carroll Lynch. It was a very nice surprise to know him and Matt are going to work together again, but he didn’t deliver a single line about what is this project about, at least.
Some friends did some digging on internet and apparently, this film is adapted from a stage play also titled Anything, staged on Lillian Theatre back in 2007. Written and starred by Tim McNeil, Anything is a wryly humorous and profoundly moving story of the unlikely romance that blossoms between a reclusive grief-stricken widower from small-town Mississippi, and his charismatic transvestite neighbor on the brink of her own destruction.
Back in 2014 whilst promoting Foxcatcher Matt talked to Deadline about his interest on the play.
I would love to come back, and I actually read a beautiful new play by Timothy McNeil that I am going to start just seeing if there’s some interest in it. It’s a really mature, very literary piece that is very powerful and I think very timely. It’s a hell of a piece of theater. And you know, in the great tradition of the theater, I refuse to be any one thing. Or any one person.
We have NO confirmation if this is or not the same project, which part Mark is playing, if he’s directing, anything. More information will be added here, and you can follow us on twitter at @ruffalocentral as well.
