LATIMES – Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Emma Watson, Judi Dench and director Mike Leigh were announced Thursday morning as this year’s honorees for the BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards.
The honors will be presented at a ceremony Oct. 30 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel hosted by comic and actor Rob Brydon. BBC America will air the show on Nov. 2. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles board of directors chooses the recipients.
Ruffalo, who was nominated for an Emmy this year for the HBO film “The Normal Heart” and will be seen in November in “Foxcatcher,” is being honored with the Britannia Humanitarian Award for his work with Water Defense. Ruffalo co-founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping waterways and drinking water sources free from contamination. Prior winners include Idris Elba and Don Cheadle.
